Kushiel's Legacy series --Jacqueline Carey
Jovah's Angel --Sharon Shinn
The Sharing Knife: Beguilement --Lois McMaster Bujold
Hyperion quartet --Dan Simmons

2) What elements or themes from these books do you see reflected in your own writing?

--young, strong female protagonist
--Fantasy/Science Fiction/Alternative History... other worlds
--love story
--a community isolated from the rest of humanity
--wrestling with the notion of leadership, and whether a few people have the right to make decisions for everyone else
--memory: what cultures remember and forget about their own history over time; how facts becomes myth and myths become fact

  1. You did good job. You've said it all wonderful. These type posting also helpful for the Free Online Quiz Maker. Keep it up.

  2. Wow, good list. I loved all the ones I've read among these. It's interesting that another series that fits pretty much all your descriptions is Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern. I didn't love the first one, but I really liked Dragonsdawn, and I think that reading that one (about the colonist origins of humanity on Pern) paired with the others, which are pseudo-medieval, you get an interesting setup for a lot of the issues you mention.

Also, I have Hyperion on my reader but haven't read it yet. Bumping it up the list...
